Kansas City, MO --  As the term "Green" becomes more and more cliche to some, MKS Pipe & Valve Co. views it in a completely different light.  Many businesses discuss taking steps to decrease their carbon footprint, but oftentimes struggle getting employees to buy in.  I've talked to many different business owners first hand, and they will tell you that just because they've designated areas for recycling doesn't mean the employees buy in.  "We're very fortunate that our employees really do care about this.  They understand the value it brings to our company, and they know they're doing the right thing for generations moving forward," remarked Micah Barr.

A few examples of steps that MKS has taken in terms of sustainable business practices are listed below:

  1. Re –use shredded office waste as packing in the shipping department
  2. On site recycling for plastic, aluminum, small electronics and printer cartridges
  3. Shipping orders complete when possible, eliminating unnecessary environmental impact and lowering fuel cost at the same time.
  4. Switching lighting at all MKS buildings to more efficient fluorescent and CFL bulbs
  5. Encouraging use of refillable and recyclable water bottles
  6. Recycling scrap material keeping metals and piping out of our landfills

This is a very important initiative for us, and we will continue to make changes that help us better serve YOU, our customer!
